FEIRACO

Founded in 1968 in the district of Barcala, Feiraco is a cooperative of Galician cattle farmers transformed today into a benchmark of the Galician dairy sector. With its main plant in Ames, A Coruña, it produces, collects and markets cows’ milk and by-products solely from the farms belonging to CLUN’s farming partners, which guarantees all of the services necessary to carry out their activity.

Feiraco’s origins date back to 1968, when 400 cattle farmers from the valley of Barcala, a depressed area of inland A Coruña, decided to actively contribute to the economic and social development of the district. Throughout its history, more than 10,000 partners have formed a part of the Feiraco family.

Feiraco milk comes solely from the farms of CLUN partners, located in 18 boroughs throughout the area of influence of A Coruña’s districts of Santiago, Ordes and Arzúa. The geographical proximity of its farms favours the quality and traceability of its products, as well as the preservation of the surrounding environment. Furthermore, its farms encourage sustainable management models as well as innovation and food safety policies that guarantee the quality of all the products from the source.

OS IRMANDIÑOS

Situated in the Lugo borough of Ribadeo, Os Irmandiños was created in 1976 when a group of 70 cattle farmers from the borough councils of Ribadeo, Barreiros, Trabada, Lourenzá and Foz decided to build a feed mill to supply their farms, mainly devoted to dairy cattle, to forego the trading houses that cornered the market with a price-quality ration unfavourable for their farms at the time. Os Irmandiños began its activity in 1978 and its number of partners rapidly increased, currently standing at 1000 and with a presence in 40 boroughs throughout Lugo and Asturias.

In this period of expansion, not only did the manufacture of concentrates increase, but numerous activities and services aimed at covering all of the requirements of the partners’ farms were also implemented. Included among these services was the machinery pool, which was launched in 1992 and which over time has become an agricultural benchmark. Today, cattle marketing, the agricultural store and supplementary feed make Os Irmandiños a clear example of diversification in the rural environment at the service of cattle farmers.

MELISANTO

Situated in the A Coruña Borough of Melide, Melisanto was created in 1979 on the initiative of a group of agricultural and cattle farmers from the boroughs of Melide, Santiso and Toques, with the following main aims: to acquire products for the agricultural and cattle farms of partners, market production, make mixed feeds for the livestock and, in general, provide services to partners aimed at comprehensively improving their farms. Furthermore, as a complementary activity, the supply of productions for human consumption was also provided for. This cooperative experience has now resulted in a critical mass of more than 600 partners and business lines in segments such as the manufacturing of feed and the marketing of milk or cattle that operate with the maximum guarantees of quality, safety and efficiency.
